My year long Fitness goal has been achieved!!! This time last year i was 228 lbs and feeling very crappy about myself! I was in a rut and decided to start working out as relief. Today I am a healthy 196 lbs and have made significant gains in my lifting routine! my bicep tendonitis, which apparently I’ve had since i was 16 is getting better and allowing me to do so much more, and it’s helped me get over the fear of tackling with my right shoulder! I look forward to this year of rugby as my new goal is to tone up and get in the best shape possible!! To anyone struggling with their fitness goals, my advice to you is to just stick with it!! you will have bad days, days where you feel you aren’t making gains, but be positive, keep working at it, be patient, and the change starts with you!! Everyday is great day to get better!
For those who aren’t sure who I am or what I do, I am a rugby player. Recently I was not only named captain of the team, something I never thought would happen my second year of playing, but I was also named Player of the Year for my club. out of the 40 or so kids in the club, being selected as the team MVP was just so humbling and great as well. I have definitely put a lot of time into it, maybe too much (looks at grades… eek) and I am 2 for 2 on player of the year awards. Last year it was for our B-side/JV Forward of the year. (selected for a rookie forward) my goal when i got that award was to get an award for each year I’m playing rugby here. But interestingly enough this isn’t the news I wanted to share. The club voted me President of the University of California - Irvine Rugby Football Club, something, again, I never expected nor even thought about last year as a first year player. I’m already looking forward to what I can do to shape the club into a great program, and I hope we get a larger talent pool so those awards become more deserved. (not a cocky statement but when you’re up against a limited amount of people the odds are in your favor).
seeing that i follow people from England, and Ireland, and New Zealand and i see a whole bunch of players from these location, I realize the USA Eagles haven’t been on top of the rugby world in a few years but I’d like to see more of these guys!! sooooo imma post some lol (:
